  • Uploading a Project

  • Welcome to the project upload guide! 

    This guide will walk you through the process of uploading your project ZIP file into FabStation, so you can get started seeing your assemblies in the FabStation app.

  • If you're a detailer preparing files for a FabStation user, please send them the project ZIP file you assembled along with this guide:

  • Uploading a Project

  • Step 1: Login into the FabStation web portal.

    Please use the same credentials for logging into the web portal as for logging into the app.

    Step 2: Click on Projects > All Projects within the webportal left menu.

  • Step 3: If this is your first time uploading a project file, click on Add Project in the top left corner.

  • Step 4: Register your new project by entering:

    1. Job Title (mandatory)
    2. Project Name (mandatory)
    3. Project Description

    Once you've entered the information, the options Add Project and Add Project & Upload Files will be activated.

    Select Add Project & Upload Files to proceed with uploading your files.

  • Note: If Project Type: Steel and Metal options are visible to you, you can upload different file type. Click the ?  icon next to each label to see the supported file formats.

    Steel: Tekla, SDS2, Advance Steel, ProStructures (.kss, .ifc, .json. .pdf)
    Metal: SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit (.sldprt, .sldasm, .ipt, .iam, .rvt, .step, .pdf)

    If these options are not available but you need access to Metal projects or you work with different file types, please contact support@fabstation.com

  • Step 5: Upload the ZIP project files

  • 5.1 Fill in the fields on the Project Upload page.

    1. Upload Files – Drag and drop your ZIP file into the box or click "Choose File" to select it manually.
    2. Confirm Project Name – Type the project name exactly as you see it to ensure the correct project is selected.
    3. Add Package Name Details – Include revision number, revision date, and other details to track revision history.
    ⚠️ This is a mandatory field. ⚠️

    5.2 Once all required fields are filled, the Upload Package button will be activated. Click it to start the upload. 

    Note: The Processing Filter should be left ON. The processing filter will track the assembly revision numer and all new assemblies will be processed. Learn more about the processing filter here.

  • ⚠️ Do not close your tab until the processing bar is complete and you are automatically directed to the confirmation page. If the progress bar is not displayed, check that the Project Name is entered correctly and all fields are filled in

  • Step 1: Login into the website.

    Please use the same credentials for logining into the webportal as for logining into the app.

    Step 2: Click on Projects > All Projects within the portal dashboard.

  • Step 3: If this is your first time uploading a project file, click on Add Project in the top left corner.

  • Step 4: Register your new project by entering:

    1. Job Title (mandatory)
    2. Project Name (mandatory)
    3. Project Type: Choose Steel or Metal (mandatory)

    Note: Click the ? icon next to each label to check which file types belong to each category.

    Steel

    Detailing Software: Solid Works, Inventor, Revit, AutoCad
    File types: .sldprt, .sldasm, .ipt, .iam, .rvt, .step, .stl, .sat, .pdf


    Metal

    Detailing Software: Solid Works, Inventor, Revit, AutoCad
    File types: .sldprt, .sldasm, .ipt, .iam, .rvt, .step, .stl, .sat, .pdf

    Note: If you chose incorrect project type, you will be able to change it later, by editing the project. 

    4. Project Description 

    Once you've entered the information, the options Add Project and Add Project & Upload Files will be activated.

    Select Add Project & Upload Files to proceed with uploading your files.

  • If Project Type is not available to you but you need access to Metal projects or you work with different file formats, please contact support@fabstation.com

  • Step 5: Upload the ZIP project files

  •  5.1 Fill in the fields on the Project Upload page.

    1. Upload Files – Drag and drop your ZIP file into the box or click "Choose File" to select it manually.
    2. Confirm Project Name – Type the project name exactly as you see it to ensure the correct project is selected.
    3. Add Package Name Details – Include revision number, revision date, and other details to track revision history.
    ⚠️ This is a mandatory field. ⚠️

    5.2 Once all required fields are filled, the Upload Package button will be activated. Click it to start the upload. 

    ⚠️ Do not close your tab until the processing bar is complete and you are automatically directed to the confirmation page.  If the progress bar is not displayed, check that the Project Name is entered correctly and all fields are filled in.

  • Check Project Upload Status

    If the project upload is successful, you will see the following:

  • Monitor Your Project Upload

    Click the Monitor tab on the left.

    Select Packages in Progress to track ongoing uploads.
    ⚠️ Please allow the project to finish processing before accessing it in the FabStation app.

    Click Package History tab to view the status of all uploaded packages.

    Note: Upload times may vary and can take several hours, depending on project size. To avoid delays, upload your project as soon as you receive it.

  • To verify that the uploaded files were successfully processed, you can view the DRAWINGS section of the web portal and make sure each drawing has a date entry in the PDF and IFC categories.

  • Good job! Now, as your project is uploaded, you can start working on it using FabStation App!
